Chris Ofili at the Tate Britain.

12th February 2010.
Chris Ofili is often well known for his use of mixed media in his work, including elephant dung. There is an explosion of colour in his paintings, reminiscent of his Nigerian background and the cultural beliefs. Ofili won the Turner Prize in 1998 and has continued to be one of Britain's greatest artists of his time. The paintings in this collection have a lot of depth to them, Ofili has used lots of different media to create his works such as glitter and resin and used funk and hip hop as his inspiration which is really evident. His more recent pieces seem more reformed, inspired by his move to Trinidad in 2005, he uses the local landscapes and mythology to create a new chapter to his work, and life. Really warm and fun work.
